CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS AT MELBOURNE QUARTER - Q2 2023
Melbourne Quarter Tower is continuing to change Melbourne’s skyline.
Once Melbourne Quarter Tower is complete, the 34-level building will become Medibank’s new national headquarters and allow the opening of the precinct’s public realm, including Sky Park. Designed by international architects, Woods Bagot, Melbourne Quarter represents the future of work.
Upcoming works for Melbourne Quarter Tower involve completing the concrete slab pours for the final levels and finishing off the building’s core so that the tower can ‘top out’. ‘Topping out’ is the formal completion of the building by attaching its highest structure feature. The building’s core is now at level 33 out of 34.
On the building’s exterior, façade works are ongoing between levels 17 and 24. Internally, fit out works are underway from the basement to the middle floors. Fit out works involve activities like plastering, installing access floor panels over the building’s concrete floors, and roughing-in utilities.
Located directly across from Southern Cross Station, the Melbourne Quarter precinct is set for completion in 2024 and is set to be home to circa 15,000 employees.
