Melbourne Quarter Tower Tops Out

We’re incredibly proud to announce that the third and final office tower at Melbourne Quarter has topped out! This construction milestone brings Lendlease one step closer to the completion of this iconic building and the entire commercial precinct.

To mark the occasion, Lendlease Development hosted a topping out ceremony on Monday 18th September, 2023. A topping out ceremony is a Scandinavian tradition whereby a tree is placed atop of a new building to bring good will to its occupants.

Fun facts about the construction of Melbourne Quarter Tower:
- Over 1,360,000 working hours
- Founded on 276 piles 
- Housing the equivalent of 20 Olympic sized swimming pools of concrete
- 2.7 million lineal metres of reinforcement

This milestone not only represents the project reaching structural completion, but also the partnership and collaboration of all of Lendlease’s key stakeholders.

Melbourne Quarter Tower reflects the very latest thinking in workplace. It offers all the key ingredients of modern workspaces. It’s a space that facilitates flexible and collaborative working, that is high quality, is targeting the highest international standards in wellness and sustainability, offers incredible design features, and is situated in a prime and easily accessible location – opposite Southern Cross Station.

The building itself designed by Woods Bagot is built to maximise connectivity for tenants with efficient, void-enabled floors that are designed to improve productivity, planning and collaboration between teams.

Lendlease have been privileged to bring to life one of the largest new mixed-use urban regeneration developments in Melbourne at Melbourne Quarter. As Lendlease completes the final pieces of the Melbourne Quarter puzzle, we are already seeing the vibrant commercial, residential, retail and cultural city neighbourhood in action.
