THE NEWEST ADDITION TO THE CBD SKYLINE!

Melbourne Quarter Tower completes

City shaping project Melbourne Quarter welcomes the newest addition to the CBD skyline, 34-storey Melbourne Quarter Tower. This milestone marks the completion of the commercial offering for the Melbourne Quarter precinct.

Located in one of Melbourne's most connected destinations directly opposite Sourthern Cross Station, Melbourne Quarter Tower commenced works onsite in April 2021, and officially reached practical completion in June 2024. Below are some of exciting project statistics:

- Two million working hours, a peak onsite workforce of 450, and over 4,300 site inductions were required to deliver Melbourne Quarter Tower

- Melbourne Quarter Tower has been founded on 276 piles and houses the equivalent of 20 Olympic sized swimming pools of concrete - delivered to site by over 7,500 trucks.

- Approximately 2.7 million lineal metres of reinforcement was delivered and installed on the project - the equivalent of the distance between Melbourne and Perth.

- On average, 19,000 vehicles passed under the project, whilst it was under construction, on a daily basis on Southbound Wurundjeri Way.

The location and orientation of Melbourne Quarter Tower presented challenges, but those challenges were met with innovations from a development and construction perspective. Innovations like the installation of precast hollowcore - 163 planks over Wurundjeri Way with 93 of those lifted over a highway overnight, with the heaviest plank lifted a not-so modest 27.5 tonnes.

Melbourne Quarter's community is growing rapidly and brand-new Melbourne Quarter Tower will soon be home to Medibank, Beca and Seven Network in the coming months.
